Before you start
Requirements, fees, schedules and application channels are set by the Civil Service Commission and change from time to time. Treat this guide as a general outline and follow the official announcement for the exam you want to take.
Step by step
- Read the official announcement. The CSC publishes the exam schedule, the filing period, the venues and the requirements on its website and social media pages.
- Check that you qualify. Applicants must meet the age and other basic requirements stated in the announcement.
- Prepare your documents. Typically you need a duly accomplished application form, proof of identity, recent photos that meet the specified format and other documents listed in the announcement.
- File your application within the filing period, through the channel the CSC specifies, and pay the examination fee if one applies.
- Wait for your Notice of Admission, which tells you the exam venue, date and time. Check every detail as soon as you receive it.
- Prepare for the exam. Use the weeks before the exam to practice with timed tests.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Waiting until the last day of filing. Offices and systems can be crowded or slow.
- Submitting photos or documents that do not meet the stated format.
- Spelling errors in your name or birth details. Corrections can be difficult later.
- Not saving your reference numbers and receipts.
Where to ask for help
If anything is unclear, contact your nearest CSC regional or field office or check the official CSC website (csc.gov.ph). We are an independent study site and cannot process applications.
